Q - How old do you need to be to bartend and to take the course?

A - You must be 18 in the state of PA to legally tend bar, and you can be younger than 18 with a parent signature to attend classes.

Q - Honestly, how much do bartenders earn in tips?

A - On average new bartenders usually make between $10 & $30 an hour in tips. Bartenders with more experience tend to make $30 to as much as $75 an hour or more in tips!

Q - A friend said I should just buy a recipe book; why should I go to bartending school?

A - The recipes in store bought books can oftentimes be wrong and their measurements may not be conducive for a bar. You need to learn the proper mechanics for making drinks and you need to practice before you go behind a real bar in front of customers to avoid mistakes and embarrassment.

Q - Why must a bartending school be licensed by the Department of Education?

A - It is against the law for any private school to operate without a license. It is the Department of Education's duty to ensure that you are receiving the appropriate education for which you are paying.

Q - Once I graduate, do you help with finding a job?

A - Yes, Our schools provide Job Placement Assistance for all graduating students. Our director works closely with hundreds of restaurants, hotels, bars, and nightclubs — giving you many opportunities to apply for.  And since we are bar owners, we have an excellent reputation in the industry.

Q - I have a full–time career, can I find a bartending job where I work only one or two nights?

A - Although you can work full–time hours and even receive benefits at some places, many bartenders have careers and only work on weekends to supplement their income.

Q - What makes your school unique?

A - The owner and primary instructor has 15 years experience as a bartender and is a certified school teacher. The Bucks County School of Bartending is the only school that owns its own bar.  After graduation all students get an opportunity to "guest bartend" at a real bar.  We also offer small classes and an affordable tuition.  Everyone should visit the school and certainly compare it to others before making a decision.
